Valencia Pride Mango is a mid-late season variety and very reliable producer. It originated in South Florida in the early 1940's and is a decedent of the Haden Mango. Valencia Pride's fruit is juicy, sweet, and delicious. It has a very aromatic tropical flavor and smooth creamy almost fiber-less consistency! The shape of mango fruit can differ by variety and the Valencia Pride has a more oblong shape than others and weighs in at about 1-2 pounds per fruit! Valencia Pride trees reach mature heights of about 20-30 feet tall with a canopy spread of about 10-15 feet.
Mango trees are perfect to plant in the subtropical to tropical home landscape. The glossy evergreen foliage of mango trees makes for a beautiful, shady canopy that requires little upkeep. Pick, peel, and eat mangoes freshly off the tree! How can you tell when a mango fruit is ready to harvest? Your nose will know! You should be able to smell a sweet, piney aroma from mango fruit before plucking it off the tree.
